ScoutNet Germany was founded on 03.12.1996 and originates from a private initiative of scouts being interested in the internet. Right from the start the "founding fathers" always had a keen interest in establishing contacts to the two German scout organizations (RDP and RdP) and their member associations.
The idea behind ScoutNet is that of scouts supporting scouts which requires everybody's involvement. By contributing reports, ideas, news and through active participation regarding the general offer, ScoutNet will become even better and more interesting.

Goals of ScoutNet Germany:
  • Presentation of the scout movement in Germany
    by offering e.g.
      - both German scout organizations RDP and RdP
      - the member associations of both scout organizations
    to represent themselves via ScoutNet
  • gathering of information for scouts and interested persons
    e.g. via archives
      - scout groups in the internet
      - accomodation in Germany
      - national scout camps
      - songs
      - recipes
      - knots
      - supply of merchandise, tents, outdoor equipment
      - books etc.
  • introduction and extension of knowledge of scouts regarding the various possibilities of communication and exchange of information in the spirit of the scout movement. Scouts should establish contacts to other people thus contributing to international understanding
    through e.g.
      - bulletin boards
      - WWW chats
      - e-mail discussion lists
      - internet relay chat (IRC)
  • provision of first-hand information and tips for camps, trips and the work with the group for other scouts
    through e.g.
      - the interactive newspaper 'Das Netz' including reports of other groups
      - news from the associations
      - ideas for games
      - first-hand and background information of events like JOTA and JOTI
